Holiday entertaining is often synonymous with stress. From prepping to cooking to serving, there’s a lot that can go wrong. But we’ve rounded up four tips for ensuring a #NoFailThanksgiving, so you can plan and plate like a pro this year. Here they are!

2. Make-Ahead Meals Are Your Best Friend.
It seems pretty intuitive, but making sides and other food items ahead of time is a lifesaver. Not only will it save you stress and an overloaded kitchen on the big day, you’ll also feel much more relaxed so you can actually enjoy yourself. Score 1 for sanity! Plus, there are a number of dishes that benefit from being made in advance. Think creamy mashed potatoes you can have steeping in butter overnight or marshmallow-topped yams, soaking up all that delicious brown sugar flavor. Then, you just need to pop them in the oven on T-day till the tops turn golden brown. Pies and other desserts are also perfect for pre-making, which frees up your afternoon for a glass of wine (or two!) while the turkey cooks.
3. Keep It Cool.
Remember that not everything needs to be heated. Instead of adding complex cooked appetizers to your menu, consider options that can be served cold or at room temperature. That way you can be in the kitchen toiling away, while your guests enjoy tasty treats like a fancy cheese plate, veggies and dip, smoked salmon crostini, prosciutto and melon skewers, or crab-stuffed cucumber canapés. All require little prep time and can be chilled and served immediately. 4. Optimize Your Oven.
Without question, the most difficult and time-consuming dish of the day is the turkey. Hours upon hours must be devoted to watching your bird cook up with regular basting intervals to keep it juicy. But, did you know you don’t have start heating your turkey on Thanksgiving Day? Or, babysit it with a baster all afternoon? Before you begin roasting your turkey, place bags of ice on the breast for at least 20-30 minutes. This cools down the white meat and prevents it from cooking up faster than the dark, so that everything cooks uniformly and locks in the juices. Keep that baster in the drawer this year. You’ve got science on your side. And thanks to this next handy tip, also a good night’s sleep. Put the turkey in the oven before you go to bed, turn down the heat and slow roast it. You’ll awaken refreshed and relaxed with a turkey that’s fall-off-the-bone tender. Plus, if you win the GE Oven, this will make worry-free cooking even easier with built-in WiFi connect that sends you notifications when the meat probe reaches the optimal temperature, giving you even less work to do. Less work? Christmas come early!
